It had been a strenuous morning for our largely senior
citizen group. The downhill Palm Sunday
path had been hard on their joints and muscles and their pace had slowed
considerably. Dad didn’t show much pity
(aka
any pity) as he continued forward unaffected. Mike from Windsor hadn’t joined us at all and
now Faye from Port Perry was bowing out.
She hailed a taxi and went back to the hotel.
All of this gives me reason to be thankful; thankful that
both my parents, and indeed my entire family is in good health (with the
exception of my brothers’ smoking). Dad
probably waited too long to take this trip, but his good health, strong
physical condition and sharp mind means that it’s never too late… for him at
least.
