11/24/12 – Look at the…

As we descended the rain slicked road with an impatient Bedouin at the wheel of our taxi all I could picture was our minibus locking up its tires and plunging down the side of the mountain.  At least I would go out on a mountain that has been described as having the profile of a breast… how titillating!

Safely down the mountain and back on our tour bus we began the return trip to Tiberius.  All of a sudden, and in unison, the pilgrims began to say “look at the rainbow” “look at the rainbow”.  Never before had a group of seniors been so happy to see a rainbow; they were convinced that it was a blessing from God.  Then Dad noticed that it was a double rainbow and suddenly it was a double rainbow sent from God.  But the second rainbow was faint and weak; if it was sent by God he hadn’t put much effort into it.  As we earthlings would say “he phoned in his performance”.

The magic of the rainbow continued for quite some time and a few in the group insisted that we had driven underneath it even though that is known to be as impossible as finding a pot of gold at the end of one…but hope is powerful and for this group of pilgrims hope trumps the physics of light refraction any day.
